3D DJbooth

It is a structure with relief placed in front of the DJ, with video mapping projected onto it. Because the content is built to fit its volumes, the booth seems to move, open up or change shape while the music plays.

The difference from a flat LED screen is depth: on a screen the image stays on one plane; on a mapped booth the light follows every piece of the structure and creates a real sense of volume.

The booth fits almost any venue, but these points make the difference:

• About 7 metres clear in front of the booth for the projector, centred, on a tripod, ceiling or truss.
• More than 3 metres of clear height, as the booth is 3.00 m tall.
• Little ambient light on the booth: the darker that spot, the more contrast and colour.
• If possible, a stage or riser: raised up, the booth avoids shadows from the crowd dancing in front.
• Access and safe parking for loading and unloading on set-up day.

We work with a projector of at least 3,000 lumens, enough for a dark room or club. As a common industry guideline, bigger spaces or venues with more ambient light need more brightness or several projectors; we assess it for each venue.

The structure is galvanised iron tube covered in fabric and its longest piece is 1.5 metres, so it is easy to transport and assemble. We set up on the morning of the event, run projection tests two hours before and dismantle when it ends.
